The Experiment

...

It was an almost perfect day. Algebra and Stats assignments submitted. Crazy integration accomplished. CS coding complete. Perfect day. Almost. And then, there were the muffins...

Among the things that get me down, failed experiments are probably in the top 10...

Total disaster... the muffins burned... the smoke detector went off... I was half-afraid that the fire brigade would come rushing and hose the house down...who knows how things work here... My first attempt at baking... ended as a flop...

WalMart's muffin instructions did not warn me against putting the backing tray on the bottom grill... I guess this is something experience and time teach...

In any case, I had been fantasizing about warm, chocolate chip muffins... the end product couldn't have been more different... tasted like burnt biscuits... well, it was burnt anyways...

I did not have the heart to throw them out... Have placed them on the table in plain sight. Hopefully, nobody is foolhardy enough to give them a nibble... until I get rid of them...

I am just lucky (and glad) not much was damaged (other than my resolve to bake) or wasted (an egg, half the muffin pack and a cup of water)...

As my calc prof says...when things go wrong when you take a certain step, hide all the evidence that you ever tried...

Don't feel like writing much today... too tired, and a little upset that I didn't get any muffins out of the ordeal...

Now to open a packet of one of those "artificial" brownies...

  1. You know what..... I would do it again tomorrow, with the remaining half a pack of muffin mix, another egg and another cup of water.... and this time, not only that I would put it in the middle tray, I would also set the oven temp a bit lower and make a point to keep a check on the rising muffins.

Every effort and attempt that results in a failure, gives you one more reason to try it again.... and come'on sunny... this was ONLY YOUR FIRST!!! ; ))

    Love
    Aba
PS.... I expect you to be enjoying yummy, soft and warm muffins tomorrow ; )

  2. Had it not been for the fact that I have a busy day ahead of me, I would have definitely given it a try... However, I guess I am adjourning the muffin-making until next weekend...
